Welcome to the Mental Health Network- a new NYSUT program for School Social Workers, School Counselors, and School Psychologists designed to provide support and advocacy for these professions.
Members will receive monthly emails that offer training and networking opportunities, promote mental health awareness activities, and elicit feedback regarding their needs as mental health professionals.

Continuing education for LMSW/LCSW
NYSUT Social Services is now offering free monthly webinars via Zoom, open to all NYSUT members. Social Work continuing education (CE) hours are available free to NYSUT members.

Mental Health Staff as Union Advocates - REGISTER HERE
This session will help develop advocacy skills specifically for school social workers, counselors, and psychologists. In this session we will discuss issues specific to the job duties associated with your role and how you can be an advocate at the bargaining table, as well as introduce you to other opportunities for collaboration and advocacy around the state. (1.5 CE for LMSW/LCSW)

Burnout and Self-Care (1.0 CE for LMSW/LCSW) - REGISTER HERE
This workshop will explore how we are affected by different types of stress and burnout. Participants will receive an overview of the different types of stress and how to recognize symptoms of burnout in yourself and others. Helpful self-care techniques and interactive mindfulness exercises to alleviate stress and promote wellness will be provided. There will be an opportunity for open discussion about how participants are currently coping with stressors both at home and at work.
