Everything You Need to Know About This Year’s Program

What You'll Do

Academy Training (June 30 - July 1, 2026)

Join fellow members at NYSUT Headquarters in Latham for an intensive two-day training covering:

Field Organizing (6 Weeks Following Training)

Put your training into action in your home region:

  • Conduct door-to-door member outreach
  • Have meaningful conversations about union priorities
  • Build relationships with members in your community

  • Receive ongoing support and coaching from experienced organizers

Program Requirements

What We Ask of You:

✅ Full attendance at training June 30 - July 1, 2026
✅ Complete 6-12 four-hour shifts over six weeks
✅ Basic smartphone navigation for data collection
✅ Accept coaching and feedback from NYSUT organizers
✅ Physical ability to walk and work in various weather conditions
✅ Commitment to representing NYSUT professionally

What We Provide

✅ $25/hour for all organizing shifts
✅ Hotel accommodations during training

✅ Mileage reimbursement for travel and field work

Field Work:
You'll organize in your home region where you live or work.

Schedule Flexibility:
While 12 shifts are ideal, the minimum requirement is 6 shifts. We'll work with your schedule.
