Sandra Santos-Vizcaino, 3rd Grade Teacher from UFT died Tuesday, March 31, 2020. Sandra was 54.
Sandra Vizcaino was the 3rd-grade dual language teacher at PS 9 in the Prospect Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn. Always wearing a smile on her face, she was known and appreciated for her nurturing and loving personality and her willingness to go above and beyond for students and colleagues.
“Sandra made everyone feel special because that’s who she was,” said coworker Wanda Chong. “She was an example of dedication for all of us because she lived for teaching.”
Sandra was an educator and a UFT member for 25 years. She graduated from Bard College and earned master’s degrees in science and science education at Long Island University.
“Her memory will always be alive in the halls of PS 9,” Chong said. “We will all miss her deeply.”
Sandra is survived by her husband, Felix; her son, Victor Luis; and her daughter, Viviana.
