The 2022 school budget and board votes are more important than ever.

Since before the days of COVID–19, national anti-union, anti-public education organizations have been trying to advance a partisan agenda and weaken support for public schools.

The anti-public ed activists “are encouraging their followers to run for local school boards to push out pro-public ed members and undermine public trust,” said NYSUT President Andy Pallotta. “This is a direct threat to districts and the budgets that support public education in our communities.”

That’s why it is critical for NYSUT members, their families and supporters in the community to put forward and support school board candidates who share the union’s positive agenda. (See related article.)

May 17 is the statewide school budget and board elections in districts outside of the Big 5 — Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Yonkers and New York City.
