Felix Carlos Bonilla taught at Newtown HS in Queens for more than 30 years before his retirement in 2010. Bonilla died at his home in Puerto Rico.

Carolyn Grossman was a kindergarten teacher at PS 200 in Bath Beach, Brooklyn. She retired in 1976, and lived in Suffolk County, L.I. "She gave me the gift of wanting to be a teacher, too," said her daughter, Marjorie Debowy, who once taught 1st grade at PS 200 and has since retired. Grossman is also survived by another daughter, Ellen Grossman, and extended family.

Norma Joseph Hart died at the age of was 86. She was a school psychologist for more than 20 years, a UFT delegate and a founding member of the Hispanic Affairs and Capably Disabled committees.
Hart was the daughter of the late David and Julia (Jarcho) Joseph and the sister of the late Arlene Ingerman. She was a strong believer in education and was proud to have obtained her college degree from Wellesley in an era when few women did so. She later earned an MA and M.Phil. from NYU and a Psy.D. from Yeshiva University.
Throughout her life she was a tenacious advocate for others, devoting herself to activities in both monolingual and bilingual general and special education. As a member of the board of the City Club of New York she directed the club's program with city public high schools and colleges She was a devoted single mother who raised three sons Michael, Steven and Andrew and adored her two grandchildren Dylan and Molly. Norma will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, a loyal friend, and a person who dedicated herself to trying to make the world a better place for others. Those who knew her know how clearly she succeeded. She will be missed.

Lisa Moore taught grades 3-5 for 28 years at PS 47 in the Bronx. She was a mentor, an academic intervention coordinator, an academic intervention specialist and grade leader. Moore loved traveling, going to the movies, family time and working in her church. She is survived by her sister Khadejha Ketter ( a New York City teacher), brother-in-law Anthony Ketter and beloved nieces, Nicole Ketter and Brandie Ketter.

Shirley D. Safran was a lifelong New Yorker and a graduate of Music and Art High School, Brooklyn College, with a B.A. in Speech and Theater, and Hunter College, with an M.A. in English.
After a successful early career as a singer and actress, she became a a high school English teacher at Art & Design High School and adjunct lecturer in Communication Arts and Skills at New York City Community College in Brooklyn. Shirley directed Art & Design's school plays and coached the debate team, who under her guidance became New York City high school champions. She received the MIT Inspirational Teacher Award, awarded by MIT Alumni Association to exceptional high school educators, after being nominated by a former student who attended MIT.
Shirley was an active member and strike veteran of the United Federation of Teachers. She was a positive, sustaining, and vibrant presence in many lives.
