It's an honor
William Brunken, United University Professions Upstate Medical chapter, was awarded a five-year, $2.2 million National Institutes of Health grant to study retinal development and disease. A professor of ophthalmology, neuroscience and physiology, Brunken hopes the study will lead to new diagnostics for ocular disease and to the development of new therapeutics.
A documentary produced by United Federation of Teachers retiree Michael Rothfeld was featured at the University of North Florida's Veterans Day events. "Forgotten War, Remembered Heroes" is a film about the Korean War.

Basilio Serrano, United University Professions Old Westbury chapter, published Puerto Rican Pioneers in Jazz 1900–1939. The book covers the roles played by musicians who came from Puerto Rico to join the jazz orchestras of New York, Washington and other locations.
