Congratulations to the winners of the second annual Speak Truth To Power "Everyone Has Rights" Public Service Announcement contest. Twenty winning New York state classes will receive $100 in supplies; $75 toward a classroom celebration; and a copy of the book Speak Truth To Power.
NYSUT and the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights launched the K-5 student video competition in 2013 to highlight the worldwide importance of human rights. The contest challenges participants to create a 60-90-second PSA centered on one of the 30 articles comprising the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
"By creating videos highlighting those rights, the students remind us of the importance of protecting and championing fundamental human rights," said Paul Pecorale, NYSUT vice president, whose office handles social justice issues. "We congratulate all of the students and teachers who participated."
