When you're hacking away at the ice on your windshield in February, May seems impossibly far away. But planning for the 43rd annual NYSUT Representative Assembly, May 1-2 in Buffalo, is already in high gear and important deadlines loom.
Small locals that have already submitted the necessary filings to form a Council of Locals must vote on their full slate of delegates and alternates by March 3; results must be certified and reported to NYSUT headquarters by March 17.
The 2015 Pre-RA Local & Retiree Council Presidents Conference takes place Thursday and Friday, April 30 and May 1, at the Adam's Mark Hotel.
The conference gives leaders the tools and strategies necessary to build and maintain solidarity, and mobilize their membership for action. With a host of valuable workshops, the conference is also an opportunity for leaders to speak with NYSUT officers.
RA elections
RA delegates will elect state delegates to the National Education Association Board of Directors and state in-service and retiree delegates to the NEA RA. Voting takes place at 10 p.m., Friday, May 1, at the NYSUT RA. Delegates must be registered by 5 p.m. that Friday to be eligible to vote.
Please refer to the Notice of Nomination and Election and Campaign Procedures (login required) that was published on page 16 of the December/January issue of NYSUT United.
The pages can also be viewed on NYSUT United's e-reader available at www.nysut.org. For complete RA information, visit www.nysut.org/ra.
