NYSUT Legislation unveils the
new MAC app
Union members are pushing political action to new levels this legislative session.
This month, members will lobby lawmakers in their home district offices. Any member who has not already signed up for in-district lobbying efforts Feb. 7-8 should contact their local political action coordinator for details.
Some area school districts, teacher centers and health care centers are inviting lawmakers to tour facilities to see for themselves the impact of budget cuts on their students and patients.
"Our goal is that every time a lawmaker turns around, they will be hearing from a NYSUT member about one of our issues," said Andy Pallotta, NYSUT executive vice president who directs the union's political action efforts.
"These visits are extremely important, whether students are in pre-K or in college, and whatever your field," he said.
NYSUT also unveiled its new Member Action Center app for smartphone users, making it even easier for members to contact lawmakers.
To download the MAC app, simply search for "NYSUT" in the App Store if you are an iPhone or iPod Touch user, or in Google Play if you use an Android phone.
