NYSUT's Dick Iannuzzi with Kerry Kennedy.
NYSUT President Dick Iannuzzi has been named to the Board of Directors of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, one of the foremost international human rights organizations.
RFK Center President Kerry Kennedy cited Iannuzzi's leadership on social justice issues at the state and national level, where he serves as vice president of both the American Federation of Teachers and the New York State AFL-CIO.
"Our human rights school curriculum, ‘Speak Truth to Power,' could not have found a better partner than Dick and NYSUT," Kennedy said. "He understands the role ‘Speak Truth to Power' plays in empowering youth in this country and around the world."
Iannuzzi joins renowned human rights advocates and business and non-profit leaders on the board.
"I am deeply honored to be able to help advance Robert F. Kennedy's unfinished work," Iannuzzi said. "NYSUT's dedication to the cause of social justice is extended and enhanced through our partnership with the RFK Center."
That partnership created the "Speak Truth to Power" curriculum aligned with New York State standards and a video competition to encourage students to learn about defenders of human rights.
