It's an honor

Pamela Wilkie, a member of the Letchworth Central Teachers' Association, was named the 2011 School Practitioner of the Year by the New York Association of School Psychologists.

Stacey Garrison, a teaching assistant and member of the Pine Bush SRP Association, was one of 22 individuals or agencies to receive a 2011 Recognition Award for her work from the state STOP-DWI Foundation and Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Maury Dean, a member of the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College, recently published Billionaire Bingo: Saving Our Endangered Middle Class. Richard Van Ness, Retiree Council 39, wrote Count your beans!! A Pathway to Riches, with Ralph Sommers. The book offers exercises, practice plans and strategies for wealth-building. With the current uncertain economic climate, the authors claim guiding oneself to financial stability is the safest pathway.

Serena Nanda and Joan Gregg, Professional Staff Congress Retirees Chapter, recently published their second anthropological mystery novel, Assisted Dying: An Ethnographic Murder Mystery on Florida's Gold Coast. The novel's central plot, involving the unexplained deaths of elderly people in South Florida, examines American cultural values related to aging, retirement and ethnic diversity in the context of the American Dream.
