Travel and learn
The non-profit Global Exploration for Educators Organization is offering 13 professional development travel programs for the summer of 2011: India/Nepal, China, Vietnam, Egypt, Turkey/Syria/Jordan/Egypt, South Africa/Mozambique/Zimbabwe/Botswana, Morocco, Argentina/Uruguay/Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Costa Rica and Guatemala/Belize/Mexico. Registration deadline is June 1.
Educators have the option to earn graduate school credit (3 credits through Indiana University) and professional development credit while seeing the world. The trips are 8 to 23 days in length and are designed and discounted to be interesting and affordable for teachers. GEEO advises teachers on how to find funding to subsidize the cost of the trips and also provides educational materials.

Living history opportunity
Learn about the dramatic role that Fort Ticonderoga played in the French & Indian War and the Revolutionary War.
Join a group of educators Aug. 14-19 with room, board, and site expenses paid by the Living History Education Foundation. Participants will immerse themselves in the history of New York and Canada during the Colonial and Revolutionary Periods.
Participants will earn 3 in-service or graduate credits as they study the social, military, economic, geographic, technological, musical and cultural factors that have shaped the history of the US, Canada and New York.
Living History experiences are based on the state standards and character education recommendations.
Participants will receive materials and access to depots of uniforms & equipment to use with your students.
