When it came time to take educators and their families out to the ball game, NYSUT delivered. On Sept. 7, nearly 500 members representing an array of locals took to Yankee Stadium for NYSUT Day at the Yankees. NYSUT officers, President Melinda Person, Executive Vice President Jaime Ciffone, and Second Vice President Ron Gross were all in attendance.
The afternoon matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays saw the Yankees squeak out a win, 4-3. Attending members and their families received free commemorative hats for taking part in the discounted game.
“We want to encourage our members to get together, to socialize with their families and with their members,” said NYSUT President Melinda Person. “This is just one example of the amazing things to come.”
As part of a new initiative, NYSUT is actively working to secure additional sports partnerships with the Buffalo Bills, the Sabres, and other New York teams. As we continue the work to strengthen bonds between union siblings in NYSUT, events like these allow our members to connect outside of the workplace in relaxed, fun-filled settings.
Watch for more announcements coming soon about additional sporting events and special member discount opportunities!
