ALBANY, N.Y.  Nov. 28, 2017 — In pickets, protests and bake sales, activists will fan out across New York on Wednesday to demonstrate outrage at Republican members of New York’s congressional delegation, and a destructive tax bill that would raise taxes on teachers and middle-class families to benefit the wealthy.

Activists will hold protests and pickets as part of a national Day of Action.  The day aims to expose Republican members of Congress who voted in favor of a House bill that eliminates the ability of New Yorkers to deduct their state and local taxes from their federal tax returns, increasing their taxes and endangering public schools and local government services.  The House bill adopted in mid-November also raises taxes on teachers who buy school supplies for their students, while wrongly giving most of the benefits to big corporations and the wealthy.

Members of New York State United Teachers; Citizen Action; Citizens for a Better Southern Tier; Not One Penny; and New York Communities for Change will join members of the Public Employees Federation, CWA and Reed’s Last Term, among other groups, in the Day of Action.

Here is the schedule of events for Wednesday, Nov. 29:
