The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires states, districts, and schools to design and implement school improvement strategies for struggling schools. In July, the NY State Education Department released its draft ESSA plans. Today, we heard reaction to the draft from two education stakeholders – first, New York State United Teachers President Andy Pallotta; and then, New York State School Boards Association Director of Communications, Research and Marketing, David Albert.
