For years, public schools across the state have been drastically underfunded. Cutting teachers has meant our children have suffered in overcrowded classrooms. Students have gone without art, music and afterschool programs. Enough is enough!
At Monday's rally we will call for the restoration of $2.2 billion in funding that our schools desperately need to provide a sound basic education and stop the expansion of privately-run charter schools.
The event's highlight, at 1 p.m., will be Rev. Dr. William Barber, the President of the North Carolina chapter of the NAACP and the founder of Moral Mondays. A compelling speaker, Rev. Dr. Barber will call for the long overdue justice and equality for our children and our schools.
Mark your calendar and pledge to join us! The rally starts at 1 p.m. at the Million Dollar Staircase in the State Capitol Building in Albany.
