NYSUT's landmark "Every Child Counts" symposium continues to send out ripples in debates of public policy and in the media.
A piece on Susan Arbetter's "New York Now" television show, broadcast on many public TV stations around the state, aired in early November.
It focused on closing the achievement gap for students in poor neighborhoods.
The program featured footage from the October NYSUT symposium, including interviews with NYSUT President Dick Iannuzzi, state Education Commissioner Richard Mills and symposium excerpts from speakers Pedro Noguera and Donna Brazile.
It delved into expectations for students, special ed placements and the benefits of early childhood education.
