Over the next few weeks, the Metiri Group will be conducting random surveys of school districts regarding the use of technology in education. NYSUT urges all local leaders whose districts have been selected to actively support this important survey by encouraging members to participate.
Background
The New York State Board of Regents created a statewide Technology Policy and Practices Council in March 2004. The council was created to advise the Regents on effective use of technology in achieving Regents goals, particularly in closing the performance gaps in K-12 education; advising on potential policy issues that related to technology; reporting on the use of technology to improve student performance, train teachers and professionals, provide educational and cultural content, and assist those with disabilities; and mapping the current technology capacity of educational institutions.
NYSUT has been involved on the Regents' council along with members of public and private K-16 institutions, BOCES, libraries, museums, public television, and community-based organizations.
To meet the goal of mapping the current technology capacity , the council has commissioned the Metiri Group to conduct an online survey as part of a wider survey on educational and instructional technology. Over the next few weeks the Metiri Group will be conducting random surveys of school districts. NYSUT urges all local leaders whose districts have been selected to actively support this important survey by encouraging members to participate.
